A few years ago for Christmas I decided to make my grandparents a sign with everyone’s birthdays. I thought it would be a great thing for them to hang up in their apartment to remember everyones birthdays. As you can see we have a lot of people in our family (and these are just my aunts/uncles, cousins, and cousins kids).
I wanted to show you what I did and maybe inspire you to make your own family birthday sign. ———————————————————————-
What you need:
Wooden plaque or just a piece of wood (mine is from Michaels)
Little wooden hearts (Michaels)
Wooden “Family” (Michaels)
Colorful Sharpie paint markers (we used different colors based on my grandparents kids)
“s” hooks (either from Michaels or made with wire)
Screw in eye hooks
So for this project most of the supplies were from Michaels. We started by drilling holes in the heart wood pieces (one on top and one on the bottom) and writing the names on them. Again we chose different colors based on different families. Each of my mom’s siblings got a different color for their family.
I painted the wooden plaque a cream color and sanded the edges. I also painted the word “family” in black and sanded around the edge to give it a cool look. Then the eye hooks got screwed into the bottom- one for each month of the year. I wrote the abbreviations for the months above each eye hook. (I suggest doing this with pencil first and measuring to make it even).
We attached all of the hearts with “S” hooks And put picture hanging hooks on the back.
We made sure there were extra supplies for when someone has a baby.
Let me know if you make anything like this for your family!
